LEICA Q3 - CONCEPT DESIGN (KONZEPT VERS. 1.0) © 2015
My passion for cameras and photography resulted in this non-retro ,futuristic design approach. The concept is trimmed down to necessary Pro key features.
Symmetry : Symmetrical design ,centered EVF , centered optics.
Big and sharp 4.4 MP EVF unit with magnification ratio of 0.77x
Fixed Summilux Lens with 23mm & 35mm focal length switch via built-in teleconverter or converter zoom.
Bigger fixed touchscreen unit with 4 touchpoint outside the screen area.
Aluminum rotary knob on top-left to change the ISO and shutter speed settings.
Dedicated Exposure compensation dial [ +3 , -3 ] on the top-left.
satin matt aluminum body finish
The fixed lens unit doesn't extend while switching from 23mm to 35mm focal length, it's all done internally. There is nothing in between to choose , for example like 28mm. The photographer can only switch back and forth between the both focal lengths. Keeping things simple as possible.
The Camera body is weather resistant.
LCD - Screen Cover.
It's main purpose is to avoid "chimping" while shooting.
What is chimping you ask ? Citing from Eric Kim's Blog: "Chimping is the act of looking at your LCD-screen immediately after shooting a photo."
While the hard rubbery screen cover is put on ,the photographer don't have to fight the urge to check the LCD screen after every single shot. Together with the digital frame counter this will give the photographer more the feeling of old style shooting.
